An account of the funeral rites held in Florence for Marie de Médicis (1573-1642), Queen consort of Henri IV, King of France. The funeral was held in Spetemebr, 1642, by order of the queen's nephew, Ferdinando II, Grand Duke of Tuscany (1610-1670).

The ceremony took place in the church of San Lorenzo, which was specially decorated for the occasion. Numerous craftsmen, artists, and architects composed paintings, sculptures, fugitive architecture, rich tapestries, etc., and a magnificent catafalque.

The plates for this book were etched by Francesco Cecchi Conti after drawings by Paolo Parigi. The first plate is an elegant etched title page with the queen's arms draped over a funerary monument, with two mourning putti. The other three plates show details of the interior of the Church of San Lorenzo and the queen's catafalque.
